2023 CHP Leadership Academy Program

Community Health Partnership launched its Leadership Academy program with eight participants from
our member community health centers: Gardner Health Services, Indian Health Center of Santa Clara
Valley, and Peninsula HealthCare Connection. Dr. Vicky Gomez from San Jose State University, who
gave her heart and soul into the curriculum and provided space for each unique perspective, facilitated
the Academy.
The Leadership Academy originated from the need to develop a local plan to address workforce needs by
investing in our local talent. Through research and conversations with the CEOs of our community health
centers, we were able to launch our Academy on September 21, 2023 with a retreat with the CEOs and
participants. Our goals for our leaders are to strengthen their leadership confidence, build community,
and promote health systems that demonstrate respect and compassion for our diverse communities.
On December 1, 2023, we celebrated the graduation of our leaders with Supervisor Cindy Chavez as our
keynote speaker. Leaders received their certificate of completion and delivered their purpose statement
that will provide them direction and be a guide for their life and work goals.
Big congratulations to our Cohort Class of 2023. We are very proud of them. Everyone was deeply
engaged and immersed at each session. They were present, vulnerable, open, and curious about their
learning.
Thank you and congratulations to Gardner Health Services, Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley,
and Peninsula Healthcare Connection for investing in leadership and local talent.
